So a 7800GT will not be able to run this game?

the issue is: not will it be powerful enough to run the game (im mostly sure it will be), but how fast will it go after the emulation layers to convert DX10 to DX9

(like if the 7800 speaks spanish, and crysis speaks english... the 7800 is smart enough to get his point across, he's just got to wait for the translator to get his point across, so it slightly slows things down)

You might have to turn some of the super sweet features off and it would end up looking like regular far cry. but either way, it should be workable and sweet in the end.

my guess would be teams are possible but not normally used (kinda like farcry i think?)

well the 7800GTX is almost a year old!!!
yes thats a joke at those who upgrade every 5days(exaggeration)

we just have to wait and see, the 2nd gen of Direct X 10 would probably be the best buy in my opinion

I read an artical on this game in the latest atomic magazine a few days ago and the screen shots looked amazing.

Problem is that we will all need some serious hardware to run this game and others like it. unless this game scales down so it will run on budget hardware? (yeah right)

Since they said this was coming out at the end of this year, I don't know if I should get the first generation of dx10 cards, or wait til the 2nd generation and get a x1800xl or 7900gt.

I think that first gen (of a new DX) cards are always a risky proposition.

New features get added, pipelines are optimized, lessons are learned. For me 2nd Gen would be preferable.

Yea it's very hard to pick, since crysis is coming out by the time vista comes out, it will have dx10 features and everyone will be playing only with dx9 features. Maybe they will delay the game to wait for more people to have dx10 hardware?

Or maybe they'll have the game look just as good using DX9 technology.
