Overall I have been fairly happy with the peformance that crysis has been offering (especially since I was in the beta and running on medium was all I could pull off, and with a variable framerate at that). I maintain a good 20fps throughout almost the entire game which is perfectly playable with cinematic motion blur (and since it maintains a fairly constant framerate it isn't all that noticable).

I´m not so sure myself. I think the performance i am getting at default HIGH DX9, 1280X1024 is unplayable. Sure there are moments when i get more than 40 fps, but the times i´m down to 20fps (or lower) are very common and annoying and i cant play.

Not to mention the annoying stuttering each and every time i zoom in with either binoclurs or a scope - no sign of that in the youtube link from koroush.

Now oblivion, at least, i was able to play it maxed when it was first released, as well as getting 4xAA to run smooth as butter when drivers matured with added performance.

Crysis is just way too laggy for me. I cant really enjoy it. And the most troubling part is that even with everything set to _low_, there are some sweet spots that bring down fps to ~27 (and i saw one with a 8800Ultra+Core2CPU on incrysis forum noticing the same thing). That is just way too bad...

Atm im playing with all high, although i´ve tweaked down object detail to almost low-spec, without the lack of textures at futher views. And i have a cheaper version of the cheap very high enabled (sunrays and colorgrading only) - as the veryhigh water tweak took down my fps in assault (standing in the middle of the map) to 10-15fps.

I guess I belong to the fps-sensitive guys, as i have seen koroush videos and i found the extremly choppy and was quite amazed how he killed all the koreans without any issues whatsoever (so good job!)

The screen resolution has a lot to do with performance especially in Crysis

Have you tried 1280x960 or a lesser resolution?

I tend to find that 1024x768 for Crysis is fine, at least on a CRT monitor, that is (yes, jagged edges are quite noticeable without Anti-Aliasing on a CRT especially at such a low resolution, but Crysis is quite demanding, we just have to accept it collectively). That game is just the new FarCry, in the sense that it brings all current hardware (mostly GPU's) to their knees, and we will have to wait for the next generation of hardware to come out to fully appreciate the game to its fullest. The exact same thing happened with FarCry (but maybe to a lesser extent, Crysis is quite the bomb right now in PC gaming).

I'm personally very happy with my performance in Crysis, but I am lucky enough to have a very powerful rig.

With reference to the remarks by Cervat Yerli on performance of the game under the latest hardware, I concur. I benchmarked the game using the Crysis Benchmark Tool on Windows XP @ 1680x1050 Resolution, all advanced settings on 'High' and no Anti-Aliasing or V-Sync enabled. These were my results:

'High' (No Modifications or cvars added)
Min FPS: 26.90
Max FPS: 75.37
Average FPS: 48.54

'Very High on the Cheap' (Cvars added to System.cfg)
Min FPS: 26.90
Max FPS: 75.99
Average FPS: 48.66

'Very High' (CVarGroups configs modifications - no Cvars in System.cfg)
Min FPS: 19.60
Max FPS: 47.02
Average FPS: 33.61

In actual gameplay (using the 'Very High' CVargroup modifications, plus the Crysis Natural Mod), my frame rate hasn't yet dropped below 35 and I have been completely stutter-free.

Having said that, I haven't progressed very far into the game yet as Im really taking my time exploring the maps after clearing up all the enemies (which itself takes a long time as I'm playing on the hardest setting).

By the way, the patch has for me, increased performance on DX10 under Windows Vista (which I've got set up to dual boot with XP). Using some savegames I made specifically for benchmarking, I experienced a rise in framerate from 28-35 under 1.0 to 32-43 under 1.1.

Version 1.2 of the "Natural" modification will be released soon, also looks like some more progress has been done on the realism mod such as a silencer on the sniper rifle and the addition of subsonic ammo to improve said silencer.

Quote:
Changelog version 1.2
-new Windows installer
-less ambient fog
-better sun color at dawn and dusk
-better horizon color at dawn and dusk
-FIX: less opaque light halos at night
EDIT: Text here removed as it appears that I missed the part of the readme that explained the installer.

There's some comparison shots available as well.

(EDIT: Or just unpack the installer or install to a temp folder and manually copy relevant files.)

Remark n°1: the installer saves the original files modified by the Natural Mod in the "Levels_backup" folder
Remark n°2: the installer copies a file "System.cfg" at the root of your Crysis directory
Remark n°3: if you already have a "System.cfg", it will be renamed as "System_backup.cfg"
Not necessary unless you're nitpicky. Another nice update in my opinion. The slightly reduced fog in the screenshots is very apparent and makes better use of the game's open ended nature which the engine can handle very well.

Whoops, hehe, I mainly checked the text in the first post and the screens in the other post, stupid of me to miss that part.
(Looks like the readme actually.)

EDIT: Updated/corrected previous post.

It looks like he's really dialed back a lot of the washed-out whites for a more natural sun. I'll definitely be downloading it tonight.
