Well, I'm not sure if it's this new 5744 build, or the new BIOS update I did a couple of days ago (as those are the only two significant changes that have happened to my system recently), but my experience index jumped up quite a bit.

I noticed the same thing, with RC2 it went up by .2 points.

Caliginosity, I noticed that you have the same HDD as I do (74GB Raptor), although I "only" get 5.4 in hard disk performance. I´m wondering if you by any chance have 2 of them running in RAID, which would explain the difference?
Your biggest boost seems to be in memory performance, so I suspect that the BIOS upgrade might have something to do with that (given that you have the same memory speed and timings this time).

Edit: I just remembered that I´ve got Vista installed on my Maxtor disk instead. I have yet to try it on the raptor (where XP currently resides). That would explain the difference. Then again I know Koroush is running XP on raptors in RAID 0 and Vista on a separate disk (which I suspect is also a raptor since he´s getting 5.9 in disk performance as well). Oh well, just interested in what drive/drive setup you need to get 5.9.

Stege99, yes I have 2x74GB Raptors in RAID0 for Windows XP, and a single 74GB Raptor for my Vista build which gets 5.9. I haven't tweaked Vista in any way to get the 5.9, my score was taken pretty much 10 minutes after booting into Vista for the first time. Can't think of why your raptor scores less.

Koroush, it´s the Maxtor DiamondMax 10 disk that gives me 5.4. I haven´t installed Vista on the raptor yet. But I think all raptors get 5.9 in Vista though, RAID or not.

Not exactly. The 36Gb version gets 5.3, at least on RC1 Build 5600. I'm gonna install RC2 in an houre or so. I wouldn't be suprised at all if my Seagate 320Gb 7200.10 16Mb Sata-II gets a higher score, even if limited in Sata-I.

Finally installed Vista RC1 5600, since I received the free DVD from Microsoft yesterday. Yes, I got it free due to a fiasco I posted about sometime back in this thread. Here is my experience index:

Mine was in the upper 2's for my desktop, the hard drives being the lowest score since I still have the old "slow" RPM ones. Vista runs great on it though (Aero theme in use, too), so I'm not going to upgrade my PC just yet.

I also installed Vista RC1 on my laptop (IBM ThinkPad T41 - getting slightly old now) and it runs fine as well. I couldn't use the Aero theme on it because of my video card's limitations, but I still think that Vista isn't as demanding as people are saying.
