I'll just get right to it. Sick of reading dead end forums forever now. Has anyone on earth gotten rid of this stupid f*** thing. I'm about over it myself. Event viewer is useless along with NVIDIA and all others. Can't delete without losing optical drives. DEP only allows >EXE. I give up, anyone have a god forsaken answer. Please do not respond if you do not have a positive resolution to this. Their are hundreds of pages of back and forth about this. Just want an answer not a column on the subject. Good Luck and Thanks!

It is from Padus(R) ASPI Shell. Many programs use it. Here is a list of it's features.
Do you have the StarwindService.exe running? It might conflicting with it. You can disable it safely.

Your correct, it does have to do with Padus. I have never installed Padus, unless it is part of software installations that are not shown. Many say that it is part of: NERO,PureVideo Decoder, and others. Problem here is that not one answer comes of how to rid your system of its' annoyance. Every boot of your system(or mine), comes with Service Manager Control alert telling you to check event viewer for source. As always, in my experience, "useless". It seems to be an incompatibility issue with a 64 bit driver. Origin unspoken of course. I have spent much time going individually through drivers of my system with no luck eliminating this so called driver issue. If it is tampered with or removed you lose your optical drives until replaced. Asquared, which I stand by, and all other software commonly known to us has been attempted for removal and still no answer. The little things such as this are those that eat me alive. Hope I have been descriptive enough for now as we create the next long lost search for an answer. Touche'

BostonBaab I know how things can really tick us off at times and I dont have a answer for you, but do try to keep the anger to a minimum when posting your questions.

Thanks for the catch. I guess I was getting out of hand. Things do sometimes get us off guard and our display isn't of ourselves. To search with no end sometimes really leaves you pointless

You are right by the software being bundeld with other software. I read it comes with DVD viewing and burning software.

1) Run regedit 2) Search or manually find key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Cl a ss\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} 3) Modify LowerFilers: Pfc.sys, deleting the entry Pfc.sys (NOT REQUIRED FOR X64 VERSION) 4) Reboot The events will no nolonger occur. Windows "rediscovers" the DVD drives after the reboot. Cheers, John |

Thanks alot Jon. It has been a while since I started that thread and have formatted since the problem. But it always relieves me to know what the problem was or how to solve it in the event it rises again. So Thanks again.
