what do you mean by "no temperature monitoring"? that when you open the temp monitoring pane it displays no temperatures or that you cant open the temperatures pane at all?

it reports my fan speeds wrong also. i have yet to find any software that will give me reliable fan speed readings with any MSI board. [i've been using MSI boards for a few years now so dont know how well this feature works on other boards]

as i said before, the tuning is likely to crash your machine, almost guaranteed to crash if your system is in any way unstable.

have you tried playing with the settings? it could be that all the temperature monitoring options are unticked. with a previous version it installed with all options unticked.

I using MBM with reliable readings.

No way !!! My system is rock solid for a year. Both video card and CPU running flawless.

No. I just give up when i saw all the problems. I was thought using it just for monitoring, not for overclock. So.....there is no reason to going on.

If it causes problems then it's best to just leave it alone. It's definitely not a critical utility to have.

the temperature monitoring pane doesnt open automatically. sorry if you already know this but this would appear to be your problem. when nTune first opens it looks like this

press the button in the bottom right and the temperature pane opens

with my system completely at stock frequencies and voltages with relaxed memory timings it is rock solid also, yet ntune still manages to crash it everytime i've tried using the tuning function. during tuning it adjusts all your clock speeds and ram timings so it is less stable and more likely to crash.

Default nTune does not recognise GPU

Hi there,

I downloaded and installed the latest version of nTune the other day. The previous version of nTune always crashed to the desktop when I clicked on the 'motherboard settings' option. But seeing how I have a new motherboard now - and the latest version of nTune - I assumed that the situation would be different.

Of course not! nTune still crashes to the desktop when I attempt to access the motherboard settings and for good measure it does not recognise my GPU either - saying that both the core and memory are at 0.00mhz!

I've reinstalled nTune, but to the same effect. Any ideas as to why it is glitching?

cheers,

itsonlydanny

first off there's already an nTune thread that this should have been posted in and i imagine a mod will merge it soon.

I've heard of, and experienced various glitches with nTune where it reacts badly with certian drivers or badly installed drivers and won't recognise clock speeds correctly. i found when i was fiddling trying to find the best drivers for my SLi, nTune often would run into problems and only pick up one GPU or report GPU speeds incorrectly.

just to clarify, you've cleanly installed all the relevant drivers before installing nTune? this is especially important if you have just swapped out a motherboard. in my experience changing such a major component usually calls for a fresh windows install.

Default nTune Reports Bad RAM Voltage

Hi there!

Okay, so...nTune is making me paranoid, along with contradictory documentation for my RAM modules.

Here's the deal. I have 2x1GB of Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 installed right now in dual-channel mode. Firstly, nTune originally reported both sticks at DDR2-667, but I discovered that this is because the physical RAM chips on the modules are really DDR2-667 being marketed as DDR2-800. Furthermore, the default SPD timings for the RAm are 5-5-5-15, as opposed to the product description which says 4-4-4-12.

Kingston's website and a review for the RAM says that the RAM should do fine if you bump it up to DDR2-800 and change the timings to 4-4-4-12 at 2.0V, so I did. The computer boots, but nTunes is still reporting that the RAM voltage is off.

Anyone have any ideas on what this could mean? Am I running safe and nTune is being finicky or do I really have a problem on my hands?

Processor is an Athlon64 X2 5200+ AM2 with the default clocks, 2.6GHz/core and I'm running all this on a BFG Tech nForce 590 SLI mobo with a 580W Sunbeam SLI Certified modular PSU.

( On a side note, I'm so used to typing iTunes, that I keep typing nTunes. I have to keep going back and changing it when I'm done with the sentence. >.< )

I uninstalled Ntune, after finding it was, well, rubbish. Maybe its because my overclock is way beyond the norm, I'm not sure, but I found mostly it was just hogging resources and giving me incorrect information.

Have you tried everest or Sandra for checking your voltage? I'm pretty sure they can both report it too.

I can only seem to find a pay version of Everest.

As for Sandra, I scoured but I can't seem to find voltages in either the Hardware or Software tabs, in the Lite version.

Maybe I'll ask around for benchmark programs.

Run your RAM at whatever voltage and timings the manufacturer says to run them at. The actual chips may not be rated for those speed/timings, but part of the high price you pay is for the extensive binning and lifetime warranty.

If you want to confirm things, go whatever voltage is shown in the BIOS, typically found under "hardware monitor" or "voltage monitor" or somesuch. nTune is known to have errors and doesn't work at all with some boards - for example on my Asus Crosshair Nforce 590 motherboard, it doesn't report any voltages at all.

Other benchmarking software is covered in the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion. You should read that document (if you haven't already) for more complete information on tweaking and optimizing your system.
