So we now have some say as to what ads appear in BF2142. I'll go ahead and see if I can't find something good, just so I can say "That's my ad."
P.S. Actually, I just got an idea for a logo. Would be pretty cool if another site I go to found its way to BF2142's in game advertising. Maybe you should do the same Koroush, if only for the privilege of being able to say that one of the ads was yours. (it's one of those seemingly mean-less things that still makes you feel good inside inspite of that, but that's just my opinion) Plus more people would come here and take a look at the BF2142 Tweakguide instead of complaining too much, and that'll make anyone happy.

I saw this on the in-game news ticker a few days ago. This is a bit of a tactic by EA to placate the fuss over the in-game ad system. To be honest I doubt (and hope) they can place many images as most will look totally inappropriate in the battlefield. I certainly don't want people resenting TweakGuides by having to be confronted with the site logo each time they run past a billboard, it's just not appropriate.
I also believe what's happened is that IGA have not been able to sell all the ad slots they wanted, so they're putting up empty slots to be filled this way. The best solution would have been not to have included something like this in the first place which can only reduce immersion. I really don't want to run around looking at ads or custom-made graphics on the billboards. A post-apocalyptic world in 2142 wouldn't have billboards with nice pictures on them all over the place.

Well, decided to get BF2142 yesterday and all I can say is it's pretty cool. Titan Mode is quite a rush, and it takes a certain something for me to say that even when I'm always on the losing team. Only had one Master Server disconnect (right after loading a map so I didn't really get cut off in game) and have yet to experience any weird lag. (gonna say this is because I live closer to the EA Master Server) And I can't really make any comparisons between this and BF2 as I don't have BF2. All in all, when it comes to the gameplay I do not regret making this purchase.
P.S. Before you ask Oblivion's still my GOTY so that hasn't changed.

I still play a fair bit of BF2142 when I get the chance, I find it much better than BF2, but it's always a matter of opinion not a statement of fact. It's a fun game for when you're not in the mood for anything deep and meaningful.
I still have disconnects regularly, and I suspect they will never be resolved. Packet Loss/Lag is also a regular visitor, but usually is more prominent in Titan games whenever the Titans get closer together, and this is a known issue with no real solution. Otherwise generally the game has been balanced out to be reasonably good. My biggest complaints at the moment are: - APM mines have a ridiculously long range/radius. You can get blown up by one from 5 feet away at times, this must be changed. - Knives are a totally random thing, and at times I've had 30 second to 1 minute long knife fights only to be killed (or kill someone) totally randomly. - The guns are still very inaccurate, even when scoped and prone. To prove it to yourself, pick a wall and stand a few feet away from it, then fire at it (both scoped and unscoped). The bullet spread is usually far too wide. - The jumping around/hopping and other tricks people use makes the game appear comical at times, but sadly it works in preventing being shot so everyone uses it. - Lack of understanding by most people in the game on proper team strategy. In virtually every game I have to constantly prod people to hold the Silos or Flags, not just run around trying to cap the next one. You actually get more points for defending a silo/flag than if you rush around trying to cap new ones, while the enemy comes in behind you and recaps all the ones you just capped. In Titan mode in particular when the enemy Titan shield goes down, people automatically rush the Titan, but in fact the quickest way to win is for everyone to concentrate on holding the silos and only leave one team to defend your own Titan. Sadly I seem to join teams which don't do this, so I wind up having to try to cap and hold silos by myself, which means I get a huge amount of points but the team loses.

BF 2142 is a good game, but I get really annoyed with the titan. In the demo, everything ran fine on the titan, no lag, nothing, even when almost the entirety of a 48-player server was on one titan. With the retail version, I step down the ramp to get to the lower decks and my FPS drops to 1-5. What is very weird is that this happens if there are no people down there, and only happens when I have all the way down the ramps, from there it drops. On the aircraft pads, it runs fine.
It's so annoying, I can't defend or attack a titan. EDIT; Thought I should add, since I tried the demo I have changed from 2x512MB sticks (unmatched, high-latency, low speed) to 2x1GB low latency dual-channel.

Interesting bit of info I ran across today about this game regarding why the process is called BF2142PACE. Just more Starforce like behavior.

Interesting, my process is not named BF2142PACE, nor is PACE Anti-Piracy in a folder under any of my application data folders- perhaps the UK/EU avoids this anti-piracy software?

That could be it, personally there is no way I would download it from the internet through EA link, I have had too many problems with things like that!
