No, as mentioned my system and many others here can run the game all max 1280x1024 with plenty of frames (usually 50-60). The issue is not the systems involved but the netcode of the game - packet loss which occurs in only one game on several servers can't be an ISP issue, nor can it be a modem or system issue - otherwise it would happen in most other games too.
I definitely notice for example that when boarding a Titan the packet loss/jerkyness becomes unbearable, no matter which server I'm on. EA/DICE have already said they are aware of disconnection, packet loss/lag issues and are supposedly working to fix them, so it's not just isolated cases.

Well when I get news that the packet loss problem is fixed (with confirmation from here), that'll be when I decide to get BF2142. (and get at least another 512 MB of RAM while I'm at it, but I might get that anyways) Any news if that would also apply with BF2?

I'll get a video of this occurring the next time I play BF2142 so people can see exactly what happens. It's variable - one minute things are smooth, as long as you're not around lots of players or vehicles. But at certain times during the game, particularly once things hot up, e.g. say you're guarding a spawn and suddenly an enemy vehicle rolls up with lots of troops and an enemy plane also hovers down, things get very jerky in some cases. FPS remains high, and Ping remains low, there are no loading pauses - the game just becomes jerky.
I'll post a video of it shortly.

I have always noticed and had severe issues with the netcode ( only have 3mbit/512kbit adsl
but i had always played bf2 before on a lesser connection and got by ) As for titan lag i don't just get netcode issues but also frame rate. I run 1280x800 high geometry, texture, terrain, filtering, dynamic lighting, low lighting and shadows, no aa ( i find aa + >20 player servers = horrible framerates) or advanced lighting. I find i can't run the game ( well enough for my needs ) on high at 1680x1050 ( or 1280x800 at that ) without getting bad bad slow downs ( had no such issue in bf2 as even my 7800gt with the settings Koroush mentioned ran perfectly fine ) The sprite effects ( explosions, artillery etc ) really slow the game down ( you know what its like when artillery hits you dead on ) These settings net me around 60-100fps and provides acceptable performance in servers up to around 32 players ( when it gets really congested sometimes things go down to 10-30fps all of a sudden then it goes back up to 60-100 as soon as the scene is cleared of players ? ) As for titan lag, the second i board the titan, my frame rate dips to 5-30 and its down right ridiculous. Also 1 out of 2 times when i enter the titan itself, i see nothing but black. It appears theres a bug ( be it with the game or atis driver ) were all the textures aren't applied properly in the engine. I still see other players and my gun model and 3d map etc but the walls, floor, boxes etc are just black. Basically i can't play in titan mode if i want to board the titan, which limits me to conquest. Titan mode seems like it could be fun but the way it is now for me i don't even stay in the server if theres a titan map. Chickenfeed

The thing is that EA have admitted to some of these bugs, so they're not the result of any particular misconfiguration (see page 3 of my BF2142 guide for details of links to EA resources/posts on these issues).
I managed to capture a good 7 minute video which neatly demonstrates - for those who have the patience to watch it - the way in which the packet loss/jerkyness issue comes and goes based on precisely where you are on a Titan or a spawn. The video is: Here. Some things to note: - It starts out relatively smooth, but as you will see when watching it, progressively you can see that it becomes jerkier and jerkier in certain areas. In particular inside the Titan, but even on top of it. - On top of the Titan you'll see I accidentally tk a friendly because he suddenly jumps into my view, and I fire one shot which instantly kills him! My gun then suddenly jerks to the right and I then unload another 5-6 shots on the guy behind him with no results. - At the 2:41 mark you can see it's damn near impossible to aim or hit a target when your gun is jerking about wildly and the enemy is also warping left and right - and no I wasn't moving my mouse, it was purely packet loss jerking. - At the 2:50 mark you'll see I and an enemy player are virtually just warping around while moving around each other, and I somehow manage to fluke a kill on him, even though my gun is jerking about wildly, and I only really score 2 or 3 hits on him. His dead character then stays motionless and is removed a second later - classic packet loss signs. - At the 5:30 mark onwards you can see that I jump down to a ground based spawn with only another 2 players, and the jerkyness/packet loss is dead obvious and makes it next to impossible for the enemy to hit me or for me to hit the enemy. As I approach the spawn I try to change my weapon to a floating mine and it takes me 5 tries to get it right (it keeps switching back and forth to other weapons). The tank jumps back and forth constantly, "warping" in place (a very obvious sign of packet loss). Anyway watch the video and you'll see it's not an FPS issue, as the jerkyness varies and generally the video is relatively smooth (given FRAPS also reduces the FPS by almost a half). It's not a Ping issue - I bring up the scoreboard a couple of times, and at the end of the video, and the whole time Ping is around 30-50. The server I'm playing on is called GameArena, a popular Australian server which is well configured and indeed the least likely to have packet loss (the Internode AU servers have a much worse case of it). It's also not a case of sour grapes on my part, since if you look at the scoreboard (see end of video) I'm coming 3rd in my team and I wasn't even really trying to win. In fact I generally do quite well in BF2142, so as a player I'm not "whining because I lose all the time" - the game is very difficult to play when you can't aim properly at other players and your view is constantly being jerked about all time. I can well understand a lot of players' frustrations at the way in which they shoot at someone, only to have them shoot back with 2 shots and kill them. The jerkyness and flukey hits/misses are all clearly Packet Loss due to the game's netcode.

I am plagued by mouse stuttering/skipping when playing BF2142. The same thing happened when I played the BF2 demo a year ago. Since then I have switched from ATi to an XFX 7900 GTX, upgraded to 2gb of ram, purchased a new mouse (Logitech g5) and the problem still exists.
I've tried uninstalling mouse drivers, changing video options (Still occurs on a consistent 100 fps), formatting and reinstalling windows... basically the works. The problem can get irritating when stopping to take a bead on an enemy running across the urban roads. Below is a quote from another site which has a video of said mouse stuttering. Although the video is of BF2, the EXACT same problem exists down to the very same description given in the quote. Quote:

Ahoy people, first post on here and after reading through some of the posts some of you know pretty much what your doing. I have a slight problem with my BF2142 I purchased it from Ebay and the guy I bought it off sent me the CD Key via e-mail (something to do with saving on the postage by not sending the original box and manual but it is a perfectly legal copy). Now my friend came round a few days before and installed the game on my machine with his CD Key, telling me I could quite easily change it through the regedit. I believed him as he always knows how to go about little fiddley things like that, and I've done this before, obviously this time it went a bit cock-eyed.
Now I have my own CD key with the game installed and patched.... and I can't play the darn thing, as his CD Key is registered on my comp, I have done this before when borrowing games and simply changed the CD Key through regedit, but for some reason with BF2142 the CD Key changes to a very long string of random text when it's updated/patched. I was wondering if there was anybody out there who could help me with this situation, I don't really want to have to wait 2 weeks for the game to get here via delivery, and I don't have the disc to re-install it, and it's incredibly frustrating having the CD Key and no gameage. I know this is what I get for being impatient but I'm an FPS fan and patience is not my best characteristic. If anyone could help I know a monkey that can dance and would happily perform for you should you manage to sort this mess out for me : ) Cheers EDIT: If this post is in the wrong thread (this was the only one I could find) then please let me know, thanks again

In your BF2142 folder there is a CD key changer. I tried the uninstall CD-key program in that folder but it didn't seem to work. Although the one where you re-enter your CD key may.
Just navigate your way to your '\Battlefield 2142\Support' folder. |

Thanks for pointing that out. I've never noticed that. If it works properly now my friend could possibly log on to his account using his cd key on my pc.
Kinda find it funny that they'd include a simple changer like that... Chickenfeed

Good to see there's a simple legal solution for it - to be honest I never noticed that application, thanks Solus.
As for your issues with that skipping, I think there have been a couple of other people who've complained of something similar in other games here on the forums. Just to be sure, if you have a dual core CPU, have you installed the AMD Dual Core Hotfix, or if it's an Intel dual core, have you launched the game in single CPU mode? The methods are covered on page 101 of the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion.
