The patch seems to be working fine for me, and also seems to have resolved some (but not all) of the lag/warping issues when on board titans.

Cool. I haven't gotten the chance to play yet and I hope the reports of CTD after every Titan round is a rare occurance.

I spoke too soon. After an hour of play, I just got a CTD exactly as a Titan round finished. Given I've had no other CTDs or crashes with BF2142 in the last few weeks, it's fairly obvious the 1.05 patch has introduced this issue.

While I again don't want to turn this thread into an anti-EA thread (we'll keep things logical and calm here), I'm not surprised frankly since past BF2 patches have proven that regardless of how many small or large changes they make, for some reason the DICE team can't seem to nail down the game to become stable and fully functional. It's always one or the other.

It's also painfully obvious that the extra revenue they receive from advertising does not mean a single thing in terms of proper support for BF2142 - this is exactly the same patch cycle we went through for BF2... i.e. patch, wait a month, next patch, wait a month - all the while issues remain either unresolved, or new issues pop up.

Here is a pretty obvious fix for the CTD on Titan rounds,Uninstall the game completely and remove ALL folders, shortcuts etc. Reinstall the game and patch only with the 1.05 patch. A member within my clan, reports this has fixed the CTD. Thanks Kingzac

That may well work, since the first patch was a fix for crashes in Titan mode, so the second patch may conflict. But I suspect we need more feedback before that can be recommended as a definitive fix (because it's quite a tedious one).

I know personally that I don't get a CTD every Titan round. In fact I finished two rounds without a crash, only crashing at the end of another Titan round on another server.

/EDIT: I've done a complete uninstall of BF2142, deleted all folders, removed the registry entries, then reinstalled the game and only applied the 1.05 patch. I will play for a couple of hours and report back on whether this fixes the Titan CTD issue.

Jofaba, please refrain from using the forum in an Internet Chat kind of style. Your last two posts to this thread have been neither constructive nor for any obvious point other than for what seems like the sake of posting.

Given the size of this thread already, it doesn't aid others looking for help, assistance or guidance when they have to track through quips too.

Thanks

Deltd is correct. Basically as nice as it is to chat to each other, the threads on this forum will only grow longer if they contain anything other than people posting for a particular purpose rather than just general commentary or chatty text.

As for the solution, it appears to work. I played another hour and a half solely on Titan mode and after several rounds I had no problems at all with crashes. Of course the game still has moments of incredible lag, which everyone on the server felt (and complained about) so the patch hasn't really fixed much in that respect.

But it does appear that a full uninstall/reinstall of BF2142 is required, followed by only installing the 1.05 patch. I've amended the front page to note this fix. Other people have mentioned other sorts of fixes like deleting the shader cache - I did that before reinstalling, and it didn't work, I still got crashes. So this appears to be the only real fix, as tedious as it is.

Thanks for the testing koroush, at the moment mine is working, all ive done is deleted the shader cache folder and the icontent.cache file, i also rolled back my driver to version 91.31 but am unsure that this is a fix?

It seems to be that the Battlefield games dont like being patched upon a patch, if that makes sense? but i agree with everything you say about dice! Am eagerly awaiting your feedback on deleting everthing 2142 and installing the 1.05 patch only?

It appears that the problem lies with the map rotation list and this will need a hotfix. When the rotation is

conquest- titan- conquest etc all is well, but if the the titan map runs twice with teams swapping ends so to speak this is what is causing the ctd's from what I can gather,I may be wrong but it seems to be this thats causing it!
