Open the fear configuration tool, chose options and disable everything.
If it now works you can start enabling them one by one and see which one is causing problems

I am having a problem getting the Combat Free version to install. I have downloaded it 4 times (aaarrrrrrr.......) from different sources, both the official torrent and regular downloads from like fileshack, and still every time a small dos window would pop up then disappear.

Finally, I got the little ms-dos window that pops up to stay up so I could read it say "Program too big to fit in memory"
I have 1 gig memory, and am actually running my rig in the Performance mode "Adjust for best performance" making it look like Windows 95.
I also shut down all extra running Processes, down to just 15 processes.
I tried it with normal performance setting also.

Still get the above error. I have plenty of virtual memory running for just in case, but still the error.

No spyware or virus. Also, in the FEAR forums they said a lot of people were having problems with rigs running emulation software, and I have never had that on here.

Any ideas out there?

K i did that and it still happens, my drivers are uptodate.

Well my FEAR still isnt working but i found this on other forums:

It says to uninstall some windows update but im not sure if its good to uninstall windows components? can it harm my pc?

No need to see the demo on this one. Unless they absolutelly butchered the game, I'm 100% for more FEAR

I am really looking forward to the story, as I hear the game starts mere moments after the last one ended.

To me, a Demo would merely be a cruel tease.

on a similar note i am actually off work. not bad. i can take a break from oblivion to check out the demo for dark messiah of might and magic and now fear extraction point. should be a fun day indeed.
