F.E.A.R apparently looks better on 360:
According to the developer: Due to the power of the 360 they added: HDR Better Particle effects 5.1 sound rest of graphics = same as maxing out the sliders on the PC http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/8...46/vids_1.html and here's a screenie http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/8...g_3792912.html well kinda captain obvious, if you have an extra 9months to port a game you would obviously improve it on a brand new console |

^^^Heh. That screenshot is 1920 x 1080. I would love to see how the 360 manages FEAR at that resolution with graphics the same as maxing out the sliders on PC, all while managing a stable framerate.
I'm not saying ther ain't now ay in hell, but I'm very doubtful. |

They are quite blurry. I also notice the particle effects in the other screenie are relatively less rich, and note the square shadow boxes on the ground, indicating simpler shadows. We shouldn't get into a Console vs. PC debate here (we already have a thread for that in the console forum), but I would suggest the PC and console versions don't look very different to me overall.

I didn't find it to look anything better than the PC version, which my PC easily runs on max settings. The HDR is unnoticable and the particle effects probably won''t make the difference either. And how can a game LOOK better by adding 5.1 SOUND? Even if it looks better, the difference won't be huge and we already have the game for a full year by the time it's in stores, and an expansion as well.

If the 360 version has HDR lighting added to the engine according to the report from IGN, then I feel that the PC version may also get a facelift with the expansion pack F.E.A.R. Extraction Point or unless they have planned to implement it in a patch like how Far Cry got its graphical improvements. We just have to wait and see...

I've downloaded the latest F.E.A.R update version 1.05 last night. However, to my disappointment, the patch refused to install, saying it needs a US version of the game. THe previous i installed, version 1.01 installed without any problems, and it was the US version too, i don't see why the patch won't install.
Any help installing the patch would be appreciated. |

Not sure if you are getting the same "version incompatible with installer" message that I got on patching (see p46 of thread). I found in my case that if I had made changes to the settings.cfg (\Documents and Settings\All Users\[Shared] Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR) the patch would not install. I returned the settings.cfg to default and the patch worked fine. See if this helps.

Here's the weird thing. I updated the game to 1.01, the patch for which was US version. Obviously the game is US version, otherwise it should've given the same error i'm getting with 1.05 right now. What might be the problem folks :S
"The version of F.E.A.R. found on this computer is incompatible with installer. Update aborted." EDIT: Okay i've confirmed that the version I'm using is US, but the patch still won't install no matter what I do . I've successfully updated to 1.01, but it doesn't go further than that. |

Try using a UK or other patch.
Also, that's funny about the Xbox 360 version. F.E.A.R. works on my 7.1 surround system on PC, so why would they need to add support? My X-Fi gives me full surround, so maybe it's just another marketing thing.
