The only thing I don't like about FEAR is most of the time when something spooky's gonna happen, you get that breaking up sound on your comms radio.

got the game this weekend, and I'm very impressed, all medium settings on 1024X768. 6800gs runs it very well, this runs much better for me than COD2 does, which surprised me.
I've only been able to play for a couple of hours but it is awsome. |

I have started to have problems with the 81.98 display drivers when I am running FEAR. No other application or game is affected.
I get random lock-ups and crashes that result in BSOD's. In the error reports, it always comes back that the drivers are the cause. Sometimes the game will hang and then revert back to the windows default display dirver with an error that the nvidia driver has stopped functioning properly. The BSOD's I get include 0x7E, 0x50, and 0xEA. The 0x50 stop message could relate to server problems that are not on my end, but it also might be due to the device drivers being faulty... I have tried everything from updating the display drivers to the latest beta drivers (84.12) and updating DirectX to the latest version (February 2006). I also formatted and reinstalled everything from scratch and that has not helped either. I have also tried disabling write combining in the display troubleshoot tab but that was of no help either. Anybody with any suggestions? It would be appreciated...

How hot does FEAR make your graphic cards run at, everyone? I have a Zalman VF900-CU with AS5 on my GPU, and after about 30mins of playing, RivaTuner's reporting the game running at 75c or so. No other game makes my card run so hot, Splinter Cell: CT/Far Cry are the next most graphically intense games I have and they run at 65c or so.
I run FEAR @ 1280x1024, 2xAA, 4xAF, max everything besides soft shadows.

) I alt-tabbed out of the game and checked the temps using the drivers. I have an extraction fan next to the GPU's as well as a fan blowing cold air onto them. My temps never go higher than 68 celcius...

I love F.E.A.R
I hope that the next F.E.A.R brings destructable environments and more replay value |

![]() Before I put in the GPU cooler I ran at about the same temps as you are now. Even after playing for three or more hours of either BF2 or FEAR my temp never goes over 59. I don't know that the temp threshold is on the 7800, I think mine is 150 so you should be well under the threshold. I am running the AC GPU cooler and a TT CPU cooler and the highest my temps get are: System: 34 CPU: 35 GPU: 59 It helped my system immensely, so that may be something you want to think about.

Is it just me or is the AA in FEAR fairly shocking?
like around square objects like computer monitors, chairs etc.. Ran it in 1280x1024, x4aa and 1280x1024, x2 aa (+ adaptive aa on) I dunno, maybe it's some kind of shimmering

it's the game. because when the light shines on something the aliasing starts showing.
