Forum Rules
These forums are designed to be a complement for the guides on the main TweakGuides site, not as a substitute. They provide invited members a place to discuss things in a mature, productive, friendly atmosphere. The rules below are based on common sense and basic online etiquette, and all members must adhere to the spirit of these rules at all times. People who repeatedly demonstrate an inability to follow them will be permanently banned.
For more details of the rationale behind the rules, please read the Forum Philosophy. New Members can only post in the Introductions forum, please read the Invitation System thread for more details. The Forum Rules Official Tech Support: This is not an 'Official Tech Support' forum for TweakGuides.com. These forums are not designed for people who just want a quick source of free technical support. You can ask questions and may receive help, but only after genuinely undertaking appropriate research to resolve the problem for yourself before posting. Again, This is not a tech support forum. Research Before Posting: It is up to each person to meet the specific requirements of our Basic Research Rule before posting, and make a genuine effort to find a solution to their own problems first before turning to others. It is not acceptable to just rely on others to solve all your problems or to do your research for you. Make sure to read what 'basic research' entails in the link above, as it's not just a case of doing a couple of quick Google searches or just saying "I searched but I couldn't find anything on this". Respect Others: Absolutely no personal abuse or attacks, intimidation or bullying will be tolerated. Treat everyone else with common courtesy at all times, even if you don't agree with them. For methods of reporting problems with other members see the bottom of this page. Post Clearly, Maturely and Productively: Always post in mature, clear English. Use proper punctuation, post brief but clear thread titles. Don't post silly answers, useless guesses or misleading or deliberately deceptive information. Don't constantly post one-line replies of no real value. Take the time to think carefully about a topic, construct your post properly and post with purpose. The aim here is to have discussions based on informed opinions, not sensationalist, emotional, fanboyish, childish or deceptive nonsense. Don't Post to Get Attention: Do not post thread titles or post contents designed to catch attention, do not beg for help, and do not bump threads to get attention. If you don't receive an answer to a question, that is something you will have to accept. Desperation is not an excuse, and your posts are no more important or worthy of attention than anyone else's. Don't Post Spam or Advertising: Spam includes pointless or nonsense posts. Advertising includes anything from selling a single item through to promoting particular websites, clan pages, events or products. These forums are not designed to help promote your website or business. Don't Post Potentially Illegal or NSFW Material: If it's potentially illegal, it is not allowed here. Examples include pirated games, music or movies, and any other material in breach of copyright. Do not post any 'Not Safe For Work' (NSFW) material such as nude, crude or offensive images or text. This rule also covers cheats, exploits or hacks which ruin online gameplay for others. Discussing or posting such material can result in an instant ban. Don't Post User Guides: Do not create or post detailed guides here. Guides on other sites can be linked to, but post them in a relevant thread, don't create a new thread for the guide. For specific details of this rule see here. Posting Images: Please read the Image Guidelines for details of how to post images here, and the rules we have about the size and content of images. Do not post signature images or links to images in your signature. Do not post offensive or unnecessary images in any of your posts. Remember - this is a private forum, posting here is a privilege not a right. The Reputation System: The Reputation System is an important feature here which allows members to have input and control over how the community is run. To find out more read the Reputation System page. All members need to be familiar with this system. Reporting Posts: If you see a post which you think breaches the forum rules, or if a member is abusing you, or if a post needs some kind of Moderator attention, go to the post in question and click the Report Post button at the top right of the post. A new box will open - briefly enter the reason you believe the post requires Moderator attention and click the submit button. A Moderator will take appropriate action as soon as possible. The Infraction System: The Infraction System is used to give prominent warnings to members who are constantly breaking Forum Rules. To find out more about the Infraction System, see This thread. Do not ignore an infraction if you receive one. Disputing Moderator Decisions: If you have a problem with a Moderator decision do not argue with them in a thread and do not alter or remove Moderator warnings or edits. If necessary, contact a Moderator via Private Message to discuss the issue. This is the only acceptable method of dispute resolution allowed. People who are argumentative or abusive to Moderators will simply be permanently banned without further debate. The Golden Rule is to Use Common Sense and Courtesy. I won't let the forums become filled with immature, spammy, or pointless posters who just want a place to seek free tech support. There are plenty of other forums for people to go and do that. If you're here to post productively, act maturely and intelligently, and hang out with a great group of people then you're welcome to stay, and I'm sure you'll find it a great place to be.
